Define the programme’s requirements first
Agree the exam rules, permitted devices, accessibility adjustments, review process and data-handling requirements before changing monitoring settings. The available controls depend on mode, hardware and deployment.
Configure the main groups
Choose Browser, Desktop or Tray and any allowed-browser restriction.
Configure the main camera, optional external camera and screen channels. Distinguish live streaming from stored recording; enabling one does not automatically mean the other is enabled.
Select the required identity checks and audio or speech monitoring.
Configure environment controls such as displays, full-screen mode, focus, clipboard and ContentProtect according to the agreed rules.
Review what happens when a required check fails. Fallback is a policy choice because it can allow an exam to continue without a failed monitoring feature.
Pilot the exact configuration
Run the agreed setup on representative devices before the real exam. Check the participant instructions, data actually captured, reviewer access and behaviour during a connection interruption.
Advanced thresholds
Do not copy generic numeric recommendations into a high-stakes programme without validation. Confirm units, supported values and current defaults with the technical team. Keep the approved configuration and the reasons for exceptions documented.
Human review
A setting can generate a risk event or block a technical step. It does not replace the authorised organisation’s decision about an alleged violation.
