Can I Take the Test Using a Smartphone?

Conditions under which testing may be completed using a smartphone or tablet, and the requirements set by the exam organizer.

Guide reviewed:

To participate in online testing, you must use a device that meets the rules and technical requirements established by the organizer. The ability to take an exam using a smartphone or tablet depends entirely on whether this option is permitted for your specific test.

1. Using Smartphones and Tablets

Taking the test on mobile devices (smartphones or tablets) is allowed only when:

  • it is explicitly permitted by the exam organizer, and

  • this requirement is clearly stated in your instructions or exam guidelines.

If your instructions indicate that mobile devices are allowed, you may take the exam using a smartphone or tablet without restrictions.

2. If Your Instructions Do Not Mention Mobile Devices

If the information provided to you does not specify that mobile devices are allowed, this means:

  • the test can be taken only on a laptop or desktop computer, and

  • the device must meet the minimum technical requirements set by the organizer.

In such cases, smartphones and tablets are not supported, and it will be technically impossible to start the test using these devices.

3. Final Rule

Always follow the instructions provided by your organization or institution.
If the instructions:

  • explicitly allow using a smartphone, you may take the test on a mobile device,

  • do not mention smartphone use, you must use a laptop or desktop computer.

Review the requirements carefully before beginning the exam to avoid technical issues and ensure a smooth testing experience.
