Blocked apps, clipboard and exam rules

Understand a restriction and get an approved adjustment without bypassing monitoring.

Guide reviewed:

Your assignment defines the rules

Permitted materials, breaks, displays and assistive tools must be confirmed for your exam. A phone connected as the required second camera is not permission to use it as a calculator or access other material.

A prohibited program is detected

  1. Read the name of the program shown by the check.

  2. Save unrelated work and close that program normally before the exam.

  3. On Windows, if an ordinary app remains running, the help centre describes using Task Manager to end its remaining processes. Do not end unfamiliar system or security processes.

  4. Repeat the check. If the device is managed or the program is required for an approved accommodation, ask the organiser and IT for an authorised configuration.

Clipboard or extension warning

Copy/paste and some extensions may be restricted by the assignment. Do not copy exam questions into external tools. If normal typing is blocked, report the exact action and error to support; do not keep trying to bypass the restriction.

Breaks and unexpected events

Agree planned breaks and accessibility adjustments before the exam. For an urgent interruption, notify the designated support or proctor channel as described in your exam rules. A risk signal is an event for review; the authorised organisation decides its consequence in context.

Access, schedule or results

Contact your exam organiser using the details in your invitation. They handle assignment access and timing, grades, retakes, appeals and individual arrangements.

What to check before contacting them
What to include in a support message
  • Exam name and the step where the problem occurred.
  • The time and your time zone.
  • Exact error text, operating system, and browser or app version.
  • Checks already tried; an error screenshot without exam questions or unnecessary personal data.

Do not include passwords, sign-in codes or identity documents in an ordinary message. Use the exam’s designated identity-check step for documents.
