Schedule and configure an assignment

Connect test content, participants, reviewers, timing, attempts and result visibility.

Guide reviewed:

Start with prepared content and people

Create the test in the library and prepare the participant group. Then open Library → Assignments and select Create.

Work through the assignment settings

  1. Choose access: public or private invitation access, or the configured prepaid workflow where applicable.

  2. Select the exam or other material from the library and inspect the preview.

  3. Assign the responsible teacher and reviewers, then select the participant group.

  4. Set the start and end dates, time zone as used by your programme, and the time limit for an attempt.

  5. Set the number of attempts and scoring method. Choose whether participants see results, correct answers or neither.

  6. Configure completion conditions and a certificate only when the programme requires them.

  7. Enable and configure the agreed proctoring mode.

Check before making it available

Verify the audience, invitation, schedule, content and participant experience using an approved practice or pilot assignment. Pay special attention to settings that reveal correct answers or allow another attempt.

If participants cannot start

Check availability, group membership, invitation limits and the required application type. Use the manager guide for the assignment state and the access guide for participant-facing checks. Keep access decisions with the authorised organiser.

What to check before contacting them
What to include in a support message
  • Exam name and the step where the problem occurred.
  • The time and your time zone.
  • Exact error text, operating system, and browser or app version.
  • Checks already tried; an error screenshot without exam questions or unnecessary personal data.

Do not include passwords, sign-in codes or identity documents in an ordinary message. Use the exam’s designated identity-check step for documents.
