How TrustExam Proctoring Works

A high-level explanation of how TrustExam monitors exams using AI, cameras, audio, and behavioral signals.

Guide reviewed:

TrustExam uses a multi-layer proctoring model designed to adapt to different exam requirements.

During an exam, the system can monitor:

  • Webcam and microphone

  • Desktop screen activity

  • External camera (via mobile device)

  • Background processes and applications

  • Voice activity and environmental sounds

  • User behavior (focus loss, head movement, violations)

All events are logged in real time. After the exam, managers receive:

  • Full recordings (camera, screen, external view)

  • A timeline of detected events

  • An AI-generated integrity report

Based on configuration, exams can be:

  • Fully automated

  • Supported by human reviewers

  • Or combined for high-stakes scenarios

Access, schedule or results

Contact your exam organiser using the details in your invitation. They handle assignment access and timing, grades, retakes, appeals and individual arrangements.

What to check before contacting them
What to include in a support message
  • Exam name and the step where the problem occurred.
  • The time and your time zone.
  • Exact error text, operating system, and browser or app version.
  • Checks already tried; an error screenshot without exam questions or unnecessary personal data.

Do not include passwords, sign-in codes or identity documents in an ordinary message. Use the exam’s designated identity-check step for documents.
