Prepare your device and workspace

Check the required exam mode, device, connection and room before exam day.

Guide reviewed:

Start with your invitation

The organiser chooses the exam mode, permitted devices, schedule and materials. Use the exact invitation or LMS link for your programme. If mobile testing is not explicitly allowed, prepare a laptop or desktop computer. A phone used as a second camera is a separate requirement.

Device and connection checklist

  1. Use a working webcam and microphone. Check that both your operating system and browser or app can access them.

  2. Use an up-to-date browser allowed for your exam. TrustExam recommends Chrome for troubleshooting; the organiser may restrict the browser choice.

  3. Check upload speed and stability. The help centre lists at least 1 Mbps upload as a baseline; pass the equipment check for the actual camera and screen configuration.

  4. For app-based exams, use the installer offered for your assignment. Desktop guides list Windows 64-bit and macOS; Linux and Windows 32-bit apps are not listed as available.

  5. Complete the check on the device and connection you plan to use for the exam.

Prepare the room

Choose a quiet, well-lit space. Keep your face visible and remove materials, extra displays and devices that your exam rules do not allow. Arrange any accessibility adjustments with the organiser in advance.

Ready to continue?

Open your assignment and follow its Browser, Desktop or Tray instructions. If the check fails, use the matching troubleshooting guide before starting the timed attempt.

What to check before contacting them
What to include in a support message
  • Exam name and the step where the problem occurred.
  • The time and your time zone.
  • Exact error text, operating system, and browser or app version.
  • Checks already tried; an error screenshot without exam questions or unnecessary personal data.

Do not include passwords, sign-in codes or identity documents in an ordinary message. Use the exam’s designated identity-check step for documents.
